“Faith is essential in your success. Faith is needed in almost every area of our lives: work, projects, and small business endeavors,” – Alex Cook
In my last video, I answered the question “Should Christians retire?” (watch it here). If we do decide to retire, the question to be answered now is “What should a Christian retirement look like?”. It will be a very interesting topic so let’s jump right on it.
Retirement is not a waiting room, God sees retirement as an engine room. In fact, most of the greatest preachers around the world are way beyond their retirement years. They move so much in the Power of the Holy Spirit that they are making huge progress, consistently, in telling people about our Lord Jesus Christ.
When I read Psalms 71:18, I have a calmness in my spirit. I know God has a plan and it reaches up to, and even beyond my golden years. This marvellous verse says “So even to old age and grey hairs oh God, do not forsake me until I proclaim your might to another generation, Your power to all those who come”. What an encouragement to press on doing the Lord’s will in our lives.
If you’re a parent or a grandparent, pass your faith to the next generation. It is a purposeful mission, and God has cast you to play the lead role. Too often, we relate retirement to rest, recreation and leaving a financial benefit to our children, but God views it differently. We should teach, impress, and inspire our children to follow God. It is the best inheritance you can give, and it will last from one generation to the next.
