Tax time strategies - giving and generosity

Giving to charitable organizations is one of the many tax time strategies people use to claim tax-deductible benefits during tax season. At the stewardship level, I think this is all good. However, a lot of people see this giving strategy as “exercising generosity”. While the “giving” happens, is it really the true generosity the Lord says in Acts 2:44-47 where Paul says:

“All who believed were together and had all things in common. They were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. Day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.”

Giving is a heart issue, definitely not a tax time strategy to use to give back to the Lord. When we give to the Lord, let us follow His example. He will enable us to give, and He will recognize the sacrificial heart behind it.  He loves to see His children follow His examples of generosity.

In this podcast, Alex shares a message that will shift the way you give back to the Lord.
