Should Christians buy insurance?

Some believe having unwavering faith in God means not purchasing any insurance products like life, property, travel or health insurance. These products display our distrust that God will preserve, protect and/or heal.  Should Christians buy insurance at all?

Our fallen world

Do you insure your car? Of course! Someone might hit it so we protect this investment with insurance for timely repairs and other costs that may result from accidents. It’s the reality of life, really, and yes bad things do happen to good people too. While there is absolutely no question that God will preserve and protect us from harm, we still do live in this fallen world and we should therefore exercise wisdom, especially in determining the type of insurance coverage we purchase.

In the Bible, we do not see any direct reference to acquiring insurance BUT we do see in Scripture (Proverbs 27:12) that “A sensible man watches for problems ahead and prepares to meet them. The simpleton never looks and suffers the consequences”.  

Should Christians buy insurance?  YES!
