When was the last time you smell the roses?
In our modern society, many of us feel under pressure to perform. We feel the pressure to have the right kind of house, send our kids to the right school, drive the right car, and even have the right kind of jobs and holidays. And because of these pressures, many of us do jobs that we don’t enjoy, or we spent money recklessly in the hope of finding some satisfaction, no matter how short term it may be.
But the bible says this, “and people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God”. – Ecclesiastes 3:13
You’ve heard it said that “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” I think God would tend to agree. You see, while we are designed to work and work is good, we also have a God that loves us and wants us to rest. He also wants us to enjoy the fruit of our labor. This is not about living an extravagant life or going out for a retail therapy. Stop for a while, and reflect on the good things that God has provided.
Be thankful for them and enjoy them, this is a gift from God to be embraced.
I like work, and I’ve always worked hard, but sometimes I just stop to thank God and spend time with my precious family and enjoy the many blessings of God. After all God wants us too!
So let me task you this, you need to stop and smell the roses!
Now might be just a start.
