Someone ask me the other day, do you know the difference between animals and mankind? Financial worries. When I take my kids to the zoo, we don’t get a sense of the animals worrying about whether the zoo can pay the electricity bill or not. So it begs the question, why do we worry about money?
While many people do have genuine financial problems (due to excessive debt or unemployment and so forth), for most of us worrying about money comes from a more simple yet profound issue: our failure to trust in the God who provides!
The problem with the worrying force is that it does nothing to solve it and it literally won’t change a thing. Jesus said, “Do not worry about your life what you will eat or drink or about your body or what you’ll wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air they do not sow or reap or store away in advance, yet our heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? If any of you worry, do you add a single hour of your life?” – Matthew 6:25-27
To God you are precious, He cares for you and He will provide for you. His promise is true.
So next time you find yourself worrying about money hand it over to God and say God all I have is yours and I’m gonna trust you to meet my needs.
